Entrance Exam for Level 4 & Training in Japan

Exam Program

LEVEL 4 MANDATORY ENTRANCE EXAM

To ensure that everyone can fully benefit from our Level 4-5 Japan in-classroom training, we have decided to conduct an entrance examination.

We would prefer to avoid having our students spend plenty of money and time on travel expenses coming to Japan just to end up being unable to follow the class due to insufficient preparation. For this reason, we would like to make sure everyone in the class shares a similar skill level.

During the Level 4 training, Dr. Shogo will teach how to enhance the Level 1, 2, and 3 techniques, meaning that all students in the class must have a clear understanding of all three levels. The class will consist of a very small sample of 10 people under the Grandmaster’s direct guidance. Because of a lack of manpower, we are unfortunately unequipped to bring students up to speed during the training itself. Anyone who is not ready to properly execute the Level 1 to 3 techniques will most likely be unable to keep up with the training. Additionally, that could also prove disruptive to the class as a whole, requiring everyone to slow down to attend to the unprepared students’ skill level. Therefore, we have concluded that a previous examination is necessary to preserve the calibre of the program.

Content of the Examination
Levels 1, 2, and 3 amount to a total of 110 techniques. During the examination, you must be able to demonstrate knowledge of at least 90 techniques at a level that satisfies the Grandmaster’s judgment. Since the allotted time is limited, you will most likely be unable to show all 110 techniques, so you may simply skip the 20 techniques that you are least confident in.

Method of Examination
The exams consist of a private evaluation with the Grandmaster himself via Zoom call. Each exam will last between 45 and 50 minutes. As you demonstrate each technique one after the other, Dr. Shogo will evaluate whether it is satisfactory and instruct you exactly on what to fix and how to improve, determining which techniques require more practice.

We encourage everyone to practice thoroughly by relying on our textbooks and video lessons before taking the test. Please consider that the average student takes about two or three times to pass the examination. After each attempt, we will offer a detailed evaluation of which techniques you have not passed, so that you may practice them and challenge the exam again for the same price. You will not be asked to repeat the techniques you have passed, but rather only those which were deemed inadequate.

Examination Fee
The fee is 98€ per exam. Each exam will take about 45 to 50 minutes. It will normally be held on any day from Monday to Thursday between 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. (Japan time).
The exam will be held in English or Japanese. If you require us to provide a live-time translator, we may be able to arrange it for an extra fee of 15€, although we cannot guarantee it will always be available.
Please contact our office via e-mail to schedule your examination so that we may send you an invoice covering the exam and the eventual translation fee.

We hope you see how this is necessary to guarantee the highest quality of training for all students. We are grateful for your understanding and collaboration. After successfully passing the examination, you are free to go ahead and register to the Level 4 Japan training.
